THE 60th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne was marked by a special service in Hadleigh.
Children from St Mary’s and Hadleigh Community primary schools joined town councillors and members of Wattisham Flying Station at St Mary’s Church to celebrate the event.
Organised by town mayor Penny Cook, it was also attended by the parish clergy.
“It made me very proud that the town was able to show its loyalty to the Queen and demonstrates the affection in which she is held,” said Mrs Cook.
“I am very grateful to the dean, church officials and town council staff for their hard work to make the celebration possible.”
A street fair and 1950s dance are planned to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Hadleigh Town Council is also running a Book of Celebration and is inviting people to write messages to the Queen. It will be sent to Buckingham Palace in July.
