A charity auction which gave people the chance to bid for a range of unique and unusual Christmas gifts, has raised nearly £6,000 for West Suffolk Hospital’s neonatal unit.

The online auction, which closed last week, had more than 30 lots.

Top prizes included meeting Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole, having a meal prepared by renowned chef Regis Crepy, or a photo session with top racehorse Frankel.

The auction raised a total of £5,730 in just two weeks, which will go straight to the hospital’s neonatal unit.

Dave Gooderham, fundraising manager for the hospital, said: “Our thanks go to everyone who supported this auction so generously, both through donating lots and bidding for the prizes.

“We are absolutely delighted with the total we raised, every penny of which will be put to good use by our neonatal unit.”
