The creation of Great Waldingfield’s jubilee garden has officially begun.
The project was sparked following the success of the village’s celebrations two years ago to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The parish council has pledged £3,000 to help complete the garden on the playing fields.
On Thursday, councillors, residents and pupils from Great Waldingfield Primary School gathered for a ceremony to mark the first turf-cutting at the garden, designed by villager Linda Lutz.
“We had a number of design entries and we all thought Linda’s was the best,” said Chris Francis, chairman of the working party. “The schoolchildren are really taking an interest.”
