AN acclaimed comic – well-known for her appearances on a variety of TV quiz shows – is aiming to have audiences rolling in the aisles on her latest tour.
Jo Caulfield, who many will recognise from Have I Got News For You and Mock The Week will be performing at The Quay Theatre in Sudbury early next month.
The 55-year-old, who also has her own comedy series on Radio 4 and is regarded as one of the best stand-up comedians in the country, will be performing at the theatre in Quay Lane as part of her Cruel To Be Kind tour entitled Tour of Towns I’ve Heard of But Never Been to.
“I’m really excited about the tour,” said Jo, who lives in Edinburgh.
“It is slightly smaller than some of the ones I’ve done in the past, but I think it will be fun going to places I don’t know that well.”
The comic said she was looking forward to unleashing some more of the observational comedy which has drawn her so much recognition.
“I know nothing about Sudbury, apart from it is a very pretty part of the world,” she said.
“I’m sure there will be a great audience and I love the freedom of doing stand-up comedy as I know nobody will edit bits out, which is very exciting.”
Jo, who worked as a waitress and in a shop before taking up comedy, has made regular appearances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.
“I didn’t find comedy straight away and had fun doing other things,” she said.
“But I think people like what I talk about and the way I don’t beat around the bush.”
Jo will be at The Quay Theatre on October 2 at 7.30pm.
Tickets priced at £12 are available from the theatre’s box office on 01787 374745.
