A nine-year-old girl has raised hundreds of pounds for charity after deciding she wanted to help people with cancer.

Jodie Turner, a pupil at Boxford Primary School, decided she would help by holding a cake sale.

Together with her mum, she decided to take part in ‘The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning’ for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Hosting it at Milden Pavilion on September 19, Jodie a keen baker, helped to bake, decorate... and test, all the cakes.

Along with her brother Owen, and friend Asha Mayes, they also washed cars.

Altogether they raised a final total of £458.

Her mum Justine Turner, said: “This is a staggering amount of money.

“Jodie has been so lucky to receive such tremendous support, donations and cakes to sell on the day.

“It isn’t bad for a morning of eating cake, but she worked really hard.”
