St Peter’s in Sudbury will play host to hustings this month – when election candidates in the South Suffolk constituency address potential voters.

It is being organised by Sudbury and District Churches Together, and is being held on April 29 at 7.30pm.

All the declared candidates – Jane Basham (Labour), James Cartlidge (Conservative), Robert Lindsay (Green), Grace Weaver (Lib Dem) and Steven Whalley (Ukip) – have confirmed they will attend. Others who may be nominated will be invited, too.

David Lamming, lay chairman of the Sudbury Deanery Synod, who will chair the meeting, said: “It will provide the opportunity for people – whether church members or not – to question the candidates on their values, as well as their policies, as they seek our vote.”
