Christmas lights to sparkle thanks to store’s donation

Sudbury’s Christmas celebrations have been handed a £2,500 present courtesy of a town supermarket.

Tesco in Springlands Way has donated the money to the town council to help fund the Christmas lights switch-on later this month.

Store manager Richard Cole said: “We are really looking forward to the switch on, the celebrations always put everyone in a festive mood and it is a great event to enjoy with family and friends.”

The event on November 30 will include a magic show, ice rink and carols.

Mayor Jack Owen, pictured with council clerk Sue Brotherwood and Mr Cole, said: “The donation is going to make a big difference to this year’s event.”

The lights switch-on will take place at 6.30pm.
