A NEW choir is being launched in Hadleigh – and a call has gone out for anyone who likes to sing to get involved.
The Hadleigh Community Choir had its inaugural meeting on Wednesday.
Choir organiser Peter Finch said: “Our aim is to be serious about singing, while at the same time encouraging a friendly atmosphere where members can socialise and enjoy the company of like-minded people.
“The music will range across many eras. It will be popular and light and will include traditional, classical, contemporary, blues, gospel, folk and religious pieces.”
He said membership is open to men and women over the age of 16.
“There are no auditions and it will not be necessary to read music, but it helps if you can,” he added.
Future plans include holding workshops to help singers develop their music-reading ability and singing skills as well as singing techniques and following a music score.
Choir rehearsals start next month at Hadleigh Community Primary School on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm and will continue weekly during school term times.
