Three young chefs have proved they know their onions when it comes to cooking and serving up tasty food.
Under the guidance of head chef Alan Paton, the trio – who all work at Stoke-by-Nayland Hotel – came second in a contest to find the best young restaurant team.
Stuart Tricker, 19, from The Blundens, Stoke-by-Nayland, Jack Butler, 20, from Station Road, Hadleigh, and Martin Lane, 19, from Boxted, near Colchester, also won the “best menu” category.
Their menu of cheese croquette and pickled summer vegetables, followed by a rack of English pork and a black forest chocolate doughnut, won judges over.
Mentor Mr Paton said: “I am very proud of them – they did extremely well.”
