TRADING Standards are cracking down on rogue tradesmen and women. Homeowners can now get an accredited list of tradespeople as part of a partnership between Suffolk Trading Standards and Checkatrade.com
From today, March 26, Suffolk residents can access the list using a free online database and printed A-Z directories. According to Checkatrade, every tradesperson on the list has been vetted, covering everything from insurance, qualifications and professional memberships.
Councillor Colin Spence, Suffolk County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Protection said: “I am really pleased that Suffolk is the first county in the Eastern region to join forces with Checkatrade.com to provide an even better service to people who are looking for a vetted tradesperson.
“We have set ourselves the task of becoming a rogue-free county and that’s exactly what this partnership seeks to achieve by protecting our residents and giving them peace of mind. It will also support the local economy by giving traders an effective platform to reach homeowners.”
