More than £800 has been presented to charity thanks to a dance which rolled back the years to the swinging ‘60s.

Around 160 people attended the Sudbury car park dance at the Delphi Centre in March. Regular dances were held in the town every Saturday night in the 1960s.

On Tuesday, organisers donated £829 to St Nicholas Hospice Care. The remainder of the money – just short of £900 – will to go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

“The dance was so successful and it was unbelievable to see so many people,” said organiser Melvyn Theobald.
