The problematic Belle Vue Junction in Sudbury is unlikely to have a right turn put in for traffic wanting to turn into Newton Road from Great Eastern Road after a traffic survey.

Suffolk County Council has been looking at ways to improve traffic problems and pedestrian safety at the junction which joins Girling Street, Newton Road, Cornard Road, Great Eastern Road and leads off to Kings Street.

It had been suggested that a right turn would allow traffic up onto Newton Road and prevent traffic having to go along Cornard Road and up the heavily criticised Ingram’s Well Road.

However, surveys showed that this would decrease the capacity of the roundabout and potentially increase traffic.

The council will instead look at turning Ingrams Wells Road into a one-way street with traffic lights at the top on the junction with Newton Road.
