Cash to help guide dog

MORE than £4,000 was raised towards the training of a guide dog at a charity golf day.

Around 30 businesses took part in the event – organised by Greenfields Community Housing, which has offices based in Halstead – at Gosfield Lake Golf Club on Friday.

Money raised will go to Guide Dogs Sponsor a Puppy, the company’s charity of the year, and will help pay for 12 months of care for a puppy on its way to becoming a guide dog.

Tina Boreham, the district fundraiser for the charity, said: “This is an absolutely fantastic result. Without support from fundraisers such as Greenfields, many more visually-impaired people simply would not be able to leave their homes and enjoy the same freedom as everyone else.”

Alan Wyatt, Greenfields’ chairman, thanked all those who provided raffle and auction prizes.
