VINTAGE vehicles and classic cars helped raise thousands of pounds for Colne Valley Railway at the weekend.
The fourth annual Vintage Vehicle Rally at the railway in Castle Hedingham saw owners and enthusiasts braving the wet weather on Saturday and Sunday.
Event organiser Alison Stabler said: “We invited owners from all around East Anglia and had more than 200 across the two days.
“We raised several thousand pounds for the railway, which is always much needed.”
Money was also raised for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of Sandra Martin, from Meadow View Road in Sudbury, who died of the disease in 2010.
“Sandra’s daughter Lara Pinkus is a friend of my daughter, so we chose to support the charity this year,” said Mrs Stabler. The collection raised around £300.
The railway will be holding a “Steam with Colin” children’s fun day between 10.30am and 3.30pm on May 13, with a treasure hunt and train rides with the railway mascot, Colin the teddy bear.
Entry is £8 for adults, £7 for pensioners and £5 for children, with half price entry for children bringing their teddy bears.
