The group hoping to revive Sudbury’s town carnival has put the event back another 12 months.

Efforts to bring back the carnival were launched earlier this year, with a view to running the event next August.

However, carnival committee chairman Jack Owen said the time and cost of organising activities had made a delay necessary, and interested community groups and businesses had been informed.

“It has been decided to delay the carnival until August Bank Holiday 2015,” he said.

“Organising such an event is both time consuming and costly and needs to be skilfully organised so that it has the impact and enjoyment for both participants and spectators alike.”

Mr Owen said the committee remained determined to give the town a carnival to be proud of and wanted to ensure everything was done properly.
