After the successful return of Sudbury’s carnival, organisers are already working out how to make the event even bigger this year.

Last year’s carnival saw hundreds of people line the streets of Sudbury to witness the return of floats for the first time in more than 20 years.

This year, the event will take place on August 30, but the organising committee has said more volunteers are needed to ensure its success.

“Last year’s carnival was fairly well received by those who lined the streets and who visited the Delphi Sports ground,” said Jack Owen, acting chairman of the Sudbury Carnival Committee.

“We want to make this year’s even better but that depends on the involvement of the community and participants, so please get involved.”

The committee’s first fundraiser is a table sale at St Peter’s in Sudbury on March 21, from 10am to 2.30pm.
