HADLEIGH’s Angel Court care home will be sold off as a going concern, along with 15 other county council-owned homes.
And Suffolk County Council says its has been inundated with interest from care home providers interested in buying the residential homes, including the Hadleigh home in Angel Street which houses 29 residents.
The council launched a consultation late last year involving care home staff, residents and carers and, following the outcome, decided to take account of the residents’ concerns about having to move.
County councillors have decided to sell off the care homes in groups of six or eight.
A council spokesman said this week that the decision to group them together would make them “more financially attractive”.
He said: “We have had a lot of interest from the independent sector. The council has taken into account residents’ wishes to remain in their homes and not to have to move out.”
The county council made the move as it attempts to save £125million over the next four years.
