Party to mark end of appeal
MORE than 100 people are expected to attend a bumper celebration to mark the end of a year-long fundraising appeal.
The campaign, aiming to raise £10,000 for Helping Hands – a charity which raises money for the Sudbury Resource Centre – was launched in March.
In a bid to ensure the project reaches its target and the centre is able to provide further support to adults with learning difficulties, organisers have decided to hold a party as a final fundraiser next month.
Centre manager Marion Corner said: “We are so grateful for all the support we have received throughout the campaign and we want this party to be a celebration of the special community spirit which exists in Sudbury.”
Fast-emerging Sudbury singer and songwriter Abbie Broom will be performing live at the event and the 18-year-old will be joined by popular band Tall Order.
An auction of promises, which organisers are hoping will be supported by a host of celebrities, sports stars and businesses, is also to be held as part of the celebrations at AFC Sudbury’s MEL Group Stadium.
“The party will mark the end of what has been a really special appeal and we hope people will come out in one last show of support,” said Mrs Corner.
The event takes place on March 31 at 7pm. Tickets cost £12.50 and are available from the Sudbury Resource Centre on the Chilton Industrial Estate.
