Two councils are considering setting up a joint gypsy and traveller steering group to meet every two months, or more regularly if there are any pressing issues.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk district councils, which have integrated some staff and services to save money, want strategy committee councillors to approve the move at a meeting being held today in Hadleigh.

Currently, there are separate traveller steering groups but, in a report to councillors, Julie Abbey-Taylor, corporate manager for strategic housing, said joint groups were a feature of work across Norfolk and Suffolk.
