A LONG Melford care home is hoping to attract community volunteers willing to read aloud as part of a national storytelling event.

Staff from the Melford Court nursing home in Hall Street want to hear from people who can spin a good yarn to join in the home’s plans to mark National Storytelling Week from January 28 to February 4.

The home is appealing for storytellers to bring tales and fables to life for its 50 residents.

Laura Hardaker, a spokeswoman for the Bupa-run home said: “We want to bring people of all ages together to feed imaginations, share memories and help celebrate the lost art of storytelling.

“Whether you are a budding poet, a lively storyteller or if you have your own tale to tell, we’d love to hear from anyone who can take part.”
