A Sudbury chocolatier is celebrating the success of its hot chocolate drink, one year after its launch.
Marimba World Chocolate, in the Borehamgate precinct, began selling its milk, dark and white hot chocolate melts to retailers 12 months ago and the product is now stocked by more than 120 cafes, coffee shops and bars across England, Scotland and Ireland.
Brad Wright, operations manager and son of directors David and Jackie, said: “It’s been a really busy year for us at Marimba since launching our flaked chocolate melts.
“We have received excellent feedback and interest, and are pleased to have reached the milestone of our 100th stockist before our first anniversary.
“The melts really appeal to cafe owners who are looking to offer their customers high quality, British-made hot chocolate in a choice of flavours, creating an indulgent drinking experience that customers will keep coming back for.”
The drinks contain the equivalent of one 40g chocolate bar in each serving and contain cocoa beans from Ecuador, Venezuela or the Dominican Republic.
The business is hoping for similar success with its latest product, a chilled chocolate melt drink that will be launched at the London Coffee Festival, which runs for three days from April 25.
Marimba launched its chocolate cafe and shop, also in Borehmgate, in 2008.
The shop sells handmade chocolates as well as its melts in store and also online, while the cafe offers light lunches, paninis, coffee and cakes to eat in or takeaway.
