Challs International is a market-leading company in its field, yet little is known of the Hadleigh-based business.
Managing director Graham Burchill admitted that he finds it surprising that while the company is a brand leader in the UK and Australia for bin and plughole care products, very few people know there is a hugely-successful company operating on their doorstep.
Buster plughole unblocker and Boost stain remover are two of the firm’s international brands that have helped the company grow almost every year since its move to Hadleigh 19 years ago.
Mr Burchill said: “We are very much established here. We decided a long time ago we would grow organically in Hadleigh.”
He added that the company, based on the Lady Lane industrial estate, would look to recruit more workers as it grows. It currently employs 50 people.
Opportunities had arisen for the business to move, but Mr Burchill insisted the company’s strength comes from its family ethos.
There are now generations of families in employment at the site, while progression from within is a key aspect to the company’s core values.
“We have got people who started out on production lines who are now in senior positions in the office,” said Mr Burchill.
He added: “We have always looked to recruit within the business if we possibly can.”
