New business looks to set the right example
The owner of a new women’s clothing shop in Sudbury is hoping she can be an example for new businesses in the town to follow.
Corinna Green, from Edwardstone, held an official opening for Nanook in Friars Street last week, with deputy mayor Adrian Osborne present.
Mrs Green, who was born in Hamburg in Germany and previously ran her own advertising agency before opening the shop, said she would be selling clothing from German designer The Hackbarths, with items priced between £49 and £250.
“I have had such a warm welcome from the retailers in Sudbury,” she said.
“I really hope that with this opening we can inject a positive mood and that other shops will be attracted to fill the empty spaces.
“All the shops we have here are a bit similar and there are some empty shops, too, so it needed something different.”
Mrs Green, who will be running the shop with three of her friends, said she welcomed the challenge of making Nanook, which also sells its clothing as a wholesaler, a success.
“It is always a risk if you have never done this before, but I have always believed in this,” she said.
“I am really trying to offer something that is tailored around the changes that the economy at the moment throws at us.”
Nanook took over premises formerly occupied by Butler and Brooks.
