Florist becoming a familiar face as star of TV adverts

Business is blooming for a Great Cornard florist after she was chosen to star in a national television advertising campaign.

Susan Jane May, who runs Country Garden Floristry from a studio in her garden in St Andrews Road, is one of three small business owners appearing in adverts for Vistaprint.co.uk that will air on 50 channels for several months.

Mrs May, 54, said: “It was very exciting. I went down to London and met some executives, I did an interview and eventually was chosen as one of the three.

“I have had people telling me they have seen the advert on Channel Four, More4, the Yesterday channel and others. I noticed a serious rise in the number of visitors to the website within 36 hours of it going on YouTube and then on television.”

She started the business around three years ago after attending garden design classes and moving into floristry, using Vistaprint for business cards and stationery as she set up her own company.

She is now helped out on larger jobs by three assistants, along with husband Iain and son James, 10, and has plans to grow Country Garden Floristry further.

“I would love to have an open workshop somewhere, even if it is just for a couple of days a week,” said Mrs May.
