Brazil the star guest at awards

FORMER Scottish international and current TalkSport radio presenter Alan Brazil was guest speaker at Hadleigh United’s presentation evening held at Hintlesham Golf Club last Saturday.

Former Ipswich Town hot-shot Brazil captivated the packed audience with tales about his time at Portman Road and with the Scottish World Cup squad.

The popular Scot made the presentations with defender Kris Rose winning the award of first team supporters’ player of the year.

The players’ and managers’ awards both went to Ollie Canfer, who travels from Bedford each week to play for Hadleigh.

There were also awards for Brett Girling, who is believed to have retired from first team action, while both joint leading scorers Ben Deacon and Josh Mayhew received mementoes.

The Reserves supporters’ player of the year was skipper Ben Goodchild while Jamie Cowan won the managers’ award.

The players’ player was Dan Chinnery while there were also presentations to leading scorer Kieran Dilloway and assistant manager Jim Walker.

The Ridgeons under-18 awards went to Tom Driscoll, Michael Barwick and Deasco Garner, with a special achievement award being presented to Reece Booth who underwent heart surgery during the season.
