Book sales of memoirs top £4,000 for cancer charity

FUNDS raised for cancer care through sales of a farmworker’s memoirs have reached £4,000.

Jim Mott, from Brettenham, died last month following a long battle with illness. His book Alpheton Hall – Diary of a Suffolk countryman, about his 35 years working on farms in Lavenham and at Alpheton Hall, went on sale last year with proceeds going to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Mr Mott’s funeral will be held tomorrow at St Mary’s Church in Thorpe Morieux at 2pm. Mr Mott’s family has asked that no-one wears black as the service will be a celebration of his life and that donations be made in place of flowers to St Nicholas Hospice Care.
