A family of travellers could have a permanent home in Newton if an application for planning permission is successful.
David Wilson, of Sackers Green, has applied to change the use of a patch of his paddock to residential use to relocate the family to the site – currently used as a depot for his surfacing company.
Mr Wilson said: “The Street family has lived on this land for more than 10 years in a mobile home. They are a lovely family and the community has a lot of respect for them.
“There are no sites around Sudbury for them to go to, so I wanted to make a permanent pitch for them here so that they have some sort of peace of mind.”
The application will go before Newton Parish Council on Wednesday, with a decision from Babergh District Council due by October 11.
