A BOXFORD band will be following in the footsteps of some of music’s most famous names when they perform at one of the country’s biggest festivals, writes Neil Bracegirdle.
This Boy Wonders are set to play Reading and Leeds this weekend after being selected for a slot on the BBC Introducing stage.
The quartet, who have been together for two years, consist of singer and lead guitarist Chris Athorne, drummer Mark Willis, rhythm guitarist Lee Wilkins and bass guitarist Nikk Butcher.
It is a massive step for the band, who will be rubbing shoulders with headline acts such as Pulp, Muse and Elbow.
They have released three EPs, including the latest Midnight Writer, and have drawn support from BBC Introducing – a scheme that supports up-and-coming artists – who recommended them for the festival.
Front man Chris said: “It’s hard to take it all in. It’s the biggest gig we’ve ever done and we never thought we’d be doing something like this so soon.”
