Sudbury Dramatic Society is auditioning for parts in its ambitious Tempest Project which it hopes to tour in Spain.

To mark 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare Sudbury Dramatic Society is to stage a production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at the Quay Theatre, Sudbury, in July.

Auditions for the project will take place on Sunday, January 17, at 2pm and Monday, January 18, at 7.30pm at The Quay Theatre.

Director Annie Eddington will be auditioning for around 10 people, to become a company that will not only perform the play at The Quay Theatre but also be available to take the performance to an outside performance locally in mid-July and to travel with it to an outside venue in Spain at the end of July as a complete group of performers.

The plan is to perform at an outdoor theatre called ‘Un Teatro entre Todos’ - A Theatre for Everyone - in the Spanish town of Laroles.

It is hoped the production will create a link between the two community-based theatre groups.

Mrs Eddington said sponsorship was being sought for the Spanish performances so people should be put off by any potential cost.
