The 2017 summer production from Sudbury Dramatic Society at The Quay Theatre will be The Railway Children, adapted by Mike Kenny from the story by Edith Nesbit.

When Roberta, Peter and Phyllis are forced to move to the countryside with their mother, they soon make friends with local stationmaster Mr Perks, the travellers on the trains, a stray Russian and an enigmatic Old Gentlemen before finally being poignantly reunited with their father.

The Railway Children is being directed by Linda Dowdall, who has directed for the society several times before, including Daisy Pulls it Off, and has appeared on the Quay stage herself many times.

Dowdall is looking for a cast of five women and six men. The main parts of the children are played by adults looking back to tell the story of when they were children.

Open auditions are being held at the Quay Theatre on Monday, March 13, at 7.30pm.

Anyone interested can audition but, on being cast, will need to join the society in order to take part.

Scripts and audition pieces are available from the Quay box office for short-term loan. For more details, email sudburydramatic@supanet.com.
