Schoolchildren have been training hard for an Olympic-style sports day next month.
Babergh District Council is entering the Redrow Homes Suffolk Youth Games on Sunday, July 10, and is calling for more young people to get involved.
The games, which take place at Abbeycroft Leisure Centre in Bury St Edmunds involve district teams receiving professionally-coached training and competing in events such as athletics, badminton, tennis and many more.
It is open to children in school years 5 to 9, with ages varying between events.
Simon King, Babergh community sports coach, said: “It’s all about getting children involved in trying sports they wouldn’t necessarily play week in week out.”
Last year, Babergh took part in every event and won the tag rugby competition.
Mr King said: “The professional coaching gives the children the opportunity to develop and realise their sporting potential.”
Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Mr King on 01473 826655.
