Supporters of a parish church hope a three-day art and craft fair will give a much-needed boost to its funds.

Paintings, craft work, and books will be on sale in St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Clare over the bank holiday weekend.

Organisers hope art-lovers and bookworms will find plenty to tempt them.

Church spokesman James Standen said: “The paintings are on a variety of themes, while the books – some old, some new – cover an interesting range of subjects including military history, gardening, travel, art and fiction. We hope people will come and browse in a lovely old church in a popular town with good shops.

“The church, too, has a well-stocked shop of its own offering cards and reasonably-priced goods.”

Refreshments will be available. The event runs 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Monday, and 2 to 5pm on Sunday.
