An art trail is set to take place in Lavenham at the start of next month.

The Parishes of Lavenham with Preston St Mary are launching their first Easter art trail at The Angel Hotel on March 31.

Pictures will be framed and exhibited in nearly all the shops and restaurants in Lavenham, and people will be able to collect a trail map and search out the works of art.

While following the trail, people will be asked to vote for their favourite entries.

The trail runs from April 1 to 13. Trail maps and voting boxes can be obtained from A J Heeks, Lavenham Church, The Tourist Information Office, the Guildhall and the library.

All art will then be exhibited for one week in St Peter and St Paul’s Church from April 15.

The two categories receiving the highest number of votes will win prizes, while their work will be used to create greeting cards to be sold in the church shop to raise funds for Lavenham Pre-school.

The Rev Stephen Earl said: “This is a community event to bring all ages together in a creative and fun way.

“It’s also a good opportunity for the Easter message to reach everyone.”
