Anticipation builds as runners lace up for annual fun run

Hundreds of runners and walkers are expected to take part in tomorrow’s Sudbury Fun Run.

The annual five-mile run begins at 9am in Station Road, opposite Easterns nightclub, and finishes in Belle Vue Park.

An estimated 500 competitors are expected to take part in the running section of the event, which was first started in the 1980s.

A further 250 people will join in the walk of the same route which follows.

Money raised from the event will be split between a variety of good causes in the area and Diabetes UK.

Last year, proceeds of £6,000 went to Helping Hands and St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Motorists are being warned that a number of roads will be closed while the race is in progress.

Race organiser Jonathan Price said he hoped everyone enjoys the day.
