A FAMILY reunion attracted more than 90 people to Bures Village Hall.
The Allestons, who can be traced back to the village from 1597, swapped stories, photographs and anecdotes at the one-off event.
Organiser Neil Alleston Lanham, who grew up near Boxford, said: “It was very good.
“We had people from France, the West Country and long-lost relatives we didn’t even know we had, as well as those from Sudbury and the surrounding area.”
Mr Lanham said a highlight was discovering the story of Henry Alleston, who was born in Bures in 1813, before being deported from the country as a convict.
“I would recommend doing something like this to anybody,” said Mr Lanham.
“People are who they are because of the stories, anecdotes and family traits they get from their relatives.”
