A COMMUNITY transport scheme is giving nursing home residents the chance to enjoy a summer outing.
Go START, which launched at the beginning of the year and provides transport for hundreds of pensioners, schoolchildren and people with disabilities, is running trips throughout August for nursing homes within an eight-mile radius of Sudbury.
The organisation is offering low-cost transport for residents each Wednesday and will take them to a location of their choice.
The idea was inspired by Go START’s recent day out to the seaside with residents from Red House Care Home in Meadow Lane, Sudbury.
Group founder John Phillips said: “The trip was such a success we decided to open up the offer to all nursing homes.
“Our buses can seat up to 15 people and we are happy to take them anywhere they choose.”
Mr Phillips said that if the scheme proved popular, the organisation would look to continue the trips on a regular basis.
