THE best Christmas present in the world turned up for 19-year-old Lois King this year ... a beautiful baby boy Alfie, who was born at lunchtime on Christmas Day.
Lois, of New Street, Sudbury, gave birth to Alfie at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
He weighed in at 6lb 11oz and proud dad Lee Bannister, 22, was there to welcome his new son into the world.
Lois said: “It didn’t feel like we had a Christmas but we have got the best present ever. He’s amazing and recovering well.
“We didn’t get to have any of the usual Christmas stuff, like lunch or anything, but having Alfie arrive was the best thing.”
Baby Alfie was due on January 13, but Lois had to go into hospital on Christmas Eve and, after being kept in overnight, went into labour.
Lois, a nursery nurse at Anglia Sunshine Nursery in Warner Way, Sudbury, said: “Alfie’s been through a lot.
“He had a lot of fluid on his lungs and he couldn’t breathe on his own so he was put on a breathing machine.
“But he is absolutely fine now and we are both doing well.
“We are all now getting settled in at home and looking forward to starting the new year.”
