THE Sudbury buzz is back in town- and this time there is proof.
After it captivated the attention of people all over the globe last year, the mystery sound has since reappeared and the Free Press has a recording to prove it exists.

Residents of the Springlands area have complained of sleepless nights as the buzz continues to pierce the night air.

Elizabeth Mordey, 33, of Mountbatten Road, said that the sound has been driving her mad for the past few weeks.

She said: "At first I thought it was my television so I turned it down but there was still an immense buzzing noise. I have heard it most nights and it's annoying."

Stuart Wilson, 30, of Rosemary Gardens, said the racket often gave him sleepless nights.

He said: "You can hear it over the top of cars and the television and it is particularly bad early in the morning because it's quiet outside.

"It seems to go off for a quarter of an hour every half hour and keeps me awake at night."

Bradley Smith, Sudbury's Community Warden, acted swiftly to record the buzz on his mobile phone after hearing it from his home in Essex Way.

"I have heard the noise every night since last Wednesday and thought that if I could get a recording it might help to shut it up once and for all," he said.

"I think it is coming from a faulty air conditioning unit and the person who owns it might not realise."

Last year the Free Press was inundated with theories of bees, alarm systems and even UFO's being responsible for the buzz as the story circulated worldwide.

A spokesman for Babergh District Council, said: "This recording may or may not be the sound that some residents have heard previously and although we do need more pinpoint information as to where it might be coming from, we will – once again – investigate further"
