Wright was jailed for life at Ipswich Crown Court in February after being found guilty of the murders of five women.

The naked body of Gemma Adams was the first to be found, in a brook at Hintlesham.

The 49-year-old former forklift truck driver claimed he was unable to receive a fair trial in Ipswich.

He also said his legal team did not advise him correctly when he took the stand. Wright argued another witness, who had been a suspect, should have been called to give evidence.

But a judge has written to Wright, refusing his appeal.

A jury unuanimously found Wright guilty of all five murders. Wright was told he would spend the rest of his life in prison.

The bodies of Miss Adams, Tania Nicol, Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls were found near Ipswich in December 2006.

Wright has 14 days to resubmit his grounds for appeal to be considered by a panel of three judges.
