A DETERMINED group of firemen will be in a race against time when they try to scale three mountains in under 24 hours.
Dan Swansborough, of Holbrook Barn Lane, Boxford, will be one of 12 firefighters from Red Watch Station, Clacton, who will attempt to climb Ben Nevis, Mount Snowden and Scafell in the Three Peaks Challenge.

The group hopes to raise money for both the MPS Society, which helps families affected by mucopolysaccharide disorders, and the Firefighters’ Charity.

After weeks of preparation work, Dan believes the team can achieve the feat.

He said: “We have done quite a bit of training and I believe that the challenge is possible, especially when you are doing it for such a good cause.”

The challenge is due to start at 5pm on Monday and donations can be made by visiting www.sponsorafirefighter. co.uk.
