CHILDREN at a pre-school will be able to enjoy the great outdoors all-year-round following an impressive garden revamp.
Springfield’s pre-school, which operates at Tudor Road Primary School, Sudbury, recently underwent a £15,000 facelift which saw its garden completely re-designed.
A pirate ship climbing frame, a playhouse, water feature and raised flower beds were all installed, along with a canopy to give the children the opportunity to play outside in bad weather.
Amy Jacobs, treasurer at the pre-school, was delighted with how the garden had turned out.
She said: “The aim was to get something that all the children can get involved in.
“The children absolutely love the new equipment and now that the canopy is up they can come outside whenever they want.”
A £10,000 grant from Suffolk County Council was topped up with money raised from fundraising events to make the project possible.
The pre-school had an Ofsted inspection in January, receiving a good overall, and staff hope the new garden will help to enhance the centre even further.
“Our play leader, Kay Cardy, only took over in September and before that we only ever achieved a satisfactory,” said Amy.
“Ofsted said we needed to enhance the outside area so if they came back now, hopefully the new garden would push us that little bit further forward.”
Springfield’s pre-school will be holding an open morning on Tuesday, July 7, from 9.30am to 11.30 am.
