AN up-and-coming Sudbury band have been chosen to play at a music festival with the legendary punk band the Blockheads.
Jamie Parks, 16, Elliott Stubbings and Mark Hepplewhite, both 17, formed the band It's Not Me It's You (INMIY) a year ago.

The three friends, who met at West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds, will be playing before thousands of people at East Anglian music festival – giginthepark – in August.

Lead guitarist, Mark, of Guy Cook Close, Great Cornard, said: "It's very exciting and a real opportunity to make an impression. We got through because one of the giginthepark producers was helping us record and gave us the chance to play."

Mark said the band, whose influences stretch from Beethoven to hip-hop, were thrilled to be supporting the Blockheads.

Originally known as Ian Dury and the Blockheads before the lead singer's death in 2000, the band recorded the classic 70s hits Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and What a Waste.

INMIY, the current holders of Sudbury's Battle of the Bands title, will be performing during the three-day festival at Halesworth Town Park from August 1-3.
