With the opening of Woodland Corner, Nayland Primary School will be the first in the area to offer a purpose-built venue for dawn-to-dusk childcare.
An integral part of the school, the building in a corner of the playing field is the new home for the 30-year-old Nayland Playgroup and will expand its services considerably.
From September 3 it is running breakfast and after-school clubs for pupils from Nayland and other schools in the area.
Holiday clubs are also being planned.
During the morning and afternoon there will be playgroup sessions for up to 24 children, aged from two-and-a-half to four years 11 months. Playgroup leader Sue Clarke said: "This is a very exciting time for the whole community, but particularly the children of Nayland Playgroup and primary school."
A bespoke building, clad in cedar and zinc, the new venue is the result of more than two years' planning and fundraising and is due for completion next month.
It houses a 6.5 by 8-metre classroom, plus covered decking and an outside play area.
The whole community is being invited to its official opening on September 20.
Woodland Corner is currently allocating childcare places for the autumn term and is also recruiting extra staff as part of its expansion.
