The first ever full-scale show to be performed by students at Stour Valley Community School in Clare saw sell-out audiences every night.

The Wiz – adapted from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz – was staged from February 12 to 14 and featured a cast of 60 pupils, who had committed to many hours of rehearsals.

The school’s head of drama, Deidre Duffy, and head of music, Jill Garrett, tirelessly schooled and directed the production over a period of six months.

After the performances, a very proud Miss Garrett said: “Other than total exhaustion, our only emotion now is overwhelming pride.”
