New group can breathe easy after getting £200 boost

A group launched to help sufferers of lung disease has received a £200 donation.

Breathe Easy Sudbury held its first meeting at the Stevenson Centre in Great Cornard earlier this month.

The organisation, which was set up by Ron Grover with support from the British Lung Foundation, aims to provide advice and help for people affected by illnesses such as lung cancer, emphysema and bronchitis.

Mr Grover, who lives in Canhams Drive and has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which causes difficulty breathing, said around 50 people had attended the meeting.

He added that Cornard Bongo Club had presented a cheque for £200 to the cause after staging a charity bongo session.

“I can’t thank the club enough and all those who came along to make our day a success,” said Mr Grover, 69.

The group’s next meeting will take place on February 6.
