Sudbury Rotary Prom - St Peter's Church

St Peter's, bedecked in patriotic bunting, flags and balloons, once again provided the perfect setting for the Rotary Prom.

And the 80-strong West Suffolk Youth Orchestra – immaculately turned out in black dresses and black tie – didn't disappoint.

From the first note from the overture to the Merry Wives of Windsor to the rousing final strains of the national anthem, everything in between was a treat for the audience.

Under conductor Neil Carlson, the WSYO dazzled with Britten's Five Courtly Dances from Gloriana, had us clapping and stamping to Kwela, swaying slightly to Strauss's magical waltzes and cheering for more once Rule Britannia was over.

The young people who make up this orchestra were superb and cellist Charlotte Hardwick Biller is to be congratulated for her solo.

The perfection which was so apparent throughout the whole evening is down to an incredible amount of hard work from each and every one of those taking part.
