Sudbury dog show is a winner

MORE than 100 pets put their best paws forward on Saturday to help raise money for Sudbury Sea Scouts.

A fun dog show held on the town’s Friars Meadow netted £830 towards the £8,000 cost of a new sailing dinghy.

Classes included handsomest dog and dog with the waggiest tail, as well as a scurry and agility class.

Organiser Rob Palmer said the show was well attended. “The water retrieving also made a big splash, as many dogs retrieved the balls and dummies from the river, some for the first time.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came along and helped us raise money, and also the companies who supported the event,” he said.

“We have been asked to run it again, and hope to make it an annual event.

“We will be contacting local companies in the coming weeks to ask them to help sponsor next year’s event, as it does cost quite a lot to put on.”
