Music to satisfy all tastes in Bures
A JOB WELL DONE: Organisers and helpers of Bures Music Festival, which was taking place for the 16th year.
A MIXTURE of music to suit all tastes attracted more than 1,000 people to a five-day festival in Bures.
Taking place for the 16th year, the Bures Music Festival survived challenging weather conditions to run without a hitch from Wednesday to Sunday.
The event, which until recently was known as Jazz by the Stour, featured singers and bands performing jazz, blues, pop and rock at Bures Recreation Ground and the village’s St Mary’s Church.
“We did very well considering the weather and the various other festivals which were cancelled over the weekend,” said Martin Butcher, festival secretary.
“Lots of people said they would love to come back and we must have had around 1,500 people during the course of the festival, so it was very successful.”
Acts at the festival, which has raised £125,000 for charity since it first began, included Hokie Joint, Blues Situation and This Boy Wonders.
But Mr Butcher said the highlight for him was the performance of Rhapsody – a Queen tribute band.
“If you closed your eyes it was like it was the real Queen,” he said.
“All the acts were brilliant and I think that is the key to the festival.
“We always put on the right bands and that gets people to come along.”
