Festival is a feast of colour

POISE, balance and agility were in abundance at Sudbury Upper School this week.
The school enjoyed a feast of colour and welcomed hundreds of visitors as it hosted the dance section of the 90th Sudbury Festival of Performing Arts.
Starting on Saturday, the event attracted competitors from across the region to display their talents in categories including tap, ballet and group dance.
After countless perfect pirouettes and with performers nursing aching feet, awards were presented to the winners on Tuesday.
Jill Baldock, adjudicator at the festival, which was founded in 1922, praised the high standard of dance which she said had left a memorable impression on her.
Jack Owen, deputy mayor of Sudbury, also thanked all those who took part.
“There were lots of youngsters with real enthusiasm and it was very enjoyable to watch,” he said.
The festival continues with the music section, from March 6 to 11 at the Delphi Club and in Friars Hall at the United Reformed Church in School Street.
