Fabulous watercolours on show
ADMIRING THE VIEW: Dorothy Lowe and Bernice Rabe enjoy the Home and Abroad exhibition during a visit to Gainsborough's House in Sudbury.
RARELY seen watercolour paintings are proving a hit with visitors in Sudbury.
A collection of British watercolours from a private collection are currently on show at Gainsborough’s House as part of the museum’s Home and Abroad exhibition.
The pieces on display date from 1700 to 1840 and include works by artists such as J M W Turner, Paul Sandby and Francis Towne.
Museum officer Sophie Woods said the exhibition, which started last weekend, had already received a lot of interest.
“It is proving to be very popular and we have had excellent feedback so far,” she said.
“This is a private collection so the work is rarely seen by the public and shows a range of artists from amateur to the well-known.
More than 70 pieces can be seen at the exhibition, which runs until September 29.
